The Institute of Biochemistry and Experimental Oncology is a scientific and pedagogical department of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. Its main mission is to teach undergraduate students in the Master's degree programme in medicine (in the subjects of medicinal chemistry and biochemistry and also in pathobiochemistry) and also in several non-medical undergraduate fields.

The same scope of teaching, except for the Bachelor's programme, is provided for teaching in English. Teaching in the Master's degree programme in Medical Chemistry and Biochemistry includes the basics of physical chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, tissue and organ biochemistry and the basics of xenobiochemistry.

In the compulsory elective course in pathobiochemistry, the teaching is focused on the pathobiochemistry of carcinogenesis. Our staff are involved in the teaching of postgraduate students in the PhD programmes in biomedicine as members of subject boards and as supervisors for the PGS in biochemistry and pathobiochemistry. In addition, the staff of the institute is involved in basic and translational biomedical research especially in the field of oncology.
